by Women in Computer Science

PROJECT

As the Web Developer Director for WiCS, I led the creation of the official website for the Women in Technology Conference organized by WiCS (Women in Computer Science) at Florida International University (FIU).

The project aimed to establish an online presence for the conference, providing attendees with information, updates, and a seamless registration process.

āŒ›ļø Project Duration: 4 weeks

šŸ§© Abilities: Front-end Development, UI/UX Design, Project Management, Communication and Collaboration, Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

TECHNOLOGY STACK:

The website was developed using the React JavaScript library, ensuring a modular and efficient front-end structure.

The site was deployed on GitHub Pages, allowing for easy hosting and version control through the integration of GitHub repositories.

Here's a brief description of how each of the pain points and development aspects were addressed:

šŸ‘©šŸ»ā€šŸ’» User-Friendly Registration Interface:

To ensure an easy-to-understand interface for user registration, the development team focused on creating a streamlined registration process with clear instructions and intuitive form fields. User testing and feedback were incorporated to refine the registration flow further.

ā° Timely Project Completion:

Meeting the project deadline was prioritized from the outset. The development process was carefully planned with clear milestones and regular progress updates. Agile methodologies were utilized to iteratively develop and refine the website.

šŸ§ Navigational Ease:

To enhance user experience, sections of the website were separated with hyperlinks, allowing users to easily locate specific information. This approach facilitated navigation and ensured that users could quickly find the content they were looking for without feeling overwhelmed by a cluttered interface.

šŸ§  Incorporating Diverse Ideas:

Managing input from e-board members can be challenging. Collaborative tools allowed all members to contribute ideas. Effective communication achieved a cohesive vision that incorporated the best ideas.

šŸ“Œ Key Feature Prioritization:

Identifying and including essential features such as registration, attendee guide, event schedule, and social media links was crucial. These features were given priority in the development process, with attention to their design and functionality to meet the needs of both organizers and attendees.

āœ… Accessibility and Responsiveness:

To enhance user experience, sections of the website were separated with hyperlinks, allowing users to easily locate specific information. This approach facilitated navigation and ensured that users could quickly find the content they were looking for without feeling overwhelmed by a cluttered interface.
